~Option Three~
Doxycide

Today’s lesson is about Doxycide. Doxycide is a very useful potion, having the power to stun doxies, which makes removing them from your home much easier and safer for both of you! The Potioneer, and author of "Book of Potions", Zygmunt Budge created this potion to help making the removal of doxies simpler when swarms of doxies could be found regularly on the remote island he called home. While the first attempt was disastrous, setting fire to his home and the rest of the island, by the next swarm season he perfected the recipe. Now all of Wizardkind has this handy dandy potion to help out whenever doxies show up, whether alone or in swarms. The potion is fairly simple, in that it has relatively few steps required and only 6 ingredients, but one must always be careful when brewing any potion. But be particularly mindful when you brew this one, as one of the ingredients is hemlock which is highly poisonous! Interestingly enough, this potion’s instructions include rather interesting measurements. For example, it calls for a glug of cowbane essence with a dash of tormentil tincture, along with a dash of hemlock essence. Given their vagueness, you may need to take multiple attempts at this potion when starting out, just to figure out how much of each ingredient you actually need! That said, on to the homework!

Homework

1. Consider the instructions. What could a glug or a dash mean? And why do you think the inventor used these terms instead of more exact measurements?

2. Complete the attached Crossword Puzzle. It'll test your knowledge of Doxycide and its history!
